Set a learning goal

A demo account is most useful when it answers a clear practice question. Choose one skill for each session, such as placing an order, setting a stop or calculating position size. Avoid treating a virtual balance as a measure of likely live performance.

Learn the order controls

Find how the platform handles market and pending orders, stop-loss and take-profit instructions, partial closes and order history. Settings vary by provider. Read the platform explanations and practise checking every field before confirming an order.

Practise risk calculations

Before a practice trade, write down the entry idea, invalidation level and maximum planned loss. Use the FTB position size calculator to see how stop distance affects size, and review the risk-management guide.

Keep a journal and review

Record why you entered, what you expected and whether you followed your plan. Demo results do not reproduce every live condition. Continue with the beginner learning path and review our risk disclosure.

Risk reminder

Forex and CFD trading can result in losses. Availability, costs and rules vary by provider and location. Verify current terms. This guide is educational and is not personal financial advice.
